Yet again top order batsman KL Rahul was dismissed after getting off to a start as India were two wickets down after a good partnership at The Oval in London. The stylish batsman looked in great touch before being dismissed off a pearler of a delivery from Sam Curran.

It was a brilliant batting performance form the English lower order batters as they ended up scoring 332 in the first innings. To recover from 181 for seven and post 332 deserves special applause.

England began the day’s play on 198 for seven with Adil Rashid and Jos Buttler at the crease. Rashid was dismissed with the score at 214.

India looked to wipe out the tail, but it wasn’t quite possible with the brilliant partnership between Buttler and Stuart Broad. The duo shared a 98-run stand which helped England cross the 300-mark.

India on track:

It was a splendid knock from Buttler. He was beaten on several occasions outside the off stump. However, he was sensible enough to score a defiant 89. It helped England post an excellent score of 332 on the board.

Broad also rode his luck and smashed 38 off 59 deliveries. Ravindra Jadeja bagged the last couple of wickets. He finished as the most successful Indian bowler with a four-wicket haul.

India began on a dismal fashion losing the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan pretty early. However, it was a good 64 runs partnership between Rahul and Pujara which got India back on track.

Rahul looked in fluent touch and took on the English bowlers. He raced off to 27 off 29 deliveries. Rahul looked in complete control and was hardly troubled by the English bowlers.

He struck 37 off 54 deliveries before being dismissed by Sam Curran. He has been a thorn in the flesh for India, and yet again Curran proved his worth in the English team.

Also, the ball moved just a bit and defeated Rahuk on the outside of the off stump. The ball crashed onto his stumps and reduced India to 70 for two.
