After the wrap up of the match, pitch curator Gary Barwell reveals some secrets that all took place to maintain the dignity of the pitch.
Barwell is the head groundsman at Edgbaston, England. He said that the key was to watering the pitch and the outfield in the weeks.
It is the appraisal that around 150,000 litres of water had been pumped in and spread around the ground. The watering in the pitch took place through pop-up sprinklers.

While speaking with the Indian Express, the head groundsman of Birmingham, England said, “Moisture is the key here. Else, the pitch can crack up.”
“If you dig up to four inches, you will hit the sand. We have been pumping water to keep this color. If the outfield dries, the moisture will escape from the pitch. It cracks, and it gets virtually uncontrollable.”
England received some respite from scorching heat before ten days of the scheduling of the match.
The groundsman said that it brought some content to the city, but it was beyond the expectation.
“We weren’t expecting rain, but it did some good,” he added.
Feedback:
Barwell said that before two days after the kickoff, he received some poor feedbacks. He won the input about the dumping of the pitch.
“Two days before the game, we then decide how much grass to keep and carefully monitor the moisture levels.”
