England vs India 2021: Twitter Reacts As Persistent Rain Leads To A Washout On Day 5

The fifth and final day of the first Test between England and India was set up beautifully with the visitors needing 157 more runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series and England needing another nine wickets.

However, it has proved to be an anti-climax of the highest order with persistent rain playing spoilsport in Nottingham, leading to the match being eventually drawn.

After a bright and sunny fourth day where there were no interruptions by the rain gods, the inclement weather once again made its presence felt in full force as Nottingham woke up to heavy rain.

The English weather department had predicted sustained rain till about 4:00 PM UK time and they have been bang on target with the first two sessions getting washed out due to rain.

Early tea has been taken and according to the latest updates, rain has made its appearance again after stopping in Nottingham after relenting for a bit. And, that has proved to be a final nail in the coffin as the officials decided to abandon the final day of the Test match, which ended in a Draw.

With the game ending in a draw, both teams have earned 4 ICC WTC points apiece and they will now lock horns in the second Test at Lord’s from August 12.
