England started on a high after electing to bowl first as pace spearhead James Anderson removed two India batters, the last one being right-handed batsman KL Rahul on the second day of the second Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Meanwhile, the game, at last, got rolling after rain gods played their part on day one of the Test. England skipper Joe Root won the toss and elected to field considering the overcast conditions in a bid to make most of the opportunity.

England bowlers rose up immediately squaring up Murali Vijay in the first over itself. After pitching few balls outside off, James Anderson came a bit straight and started within the wicket.

It was a good length delivery angled to the batsman which cut Vijay into two halves castling his timber. Thus England got the perfect start they hoped.

However, India’s hopes now rely on Cheteshwar Pujara, who comes back to the playing XI.

India made two changes going into this game. Virat Kohli preferred Kuldeep Yadav over Umesh Yadav. Furthermore, they have brought in Pujara in place of incumbent Test opener Shikhar Dhawan.

England, on the other hand, had to make a forced change. Veteran all-rounder Chris Woakes comes in place of Ben Stokes after a long injury lay off.

Interestingly, the 20-year-old Ollie Pope comes to side in place of Dawid Malan, who was going through a lean patch.

James Anderson bags his second:

Fast bowler Anderson once again stamped his authority and proved why he is known as the lord of the Lord’s. He poised questions right from the start of the game with the ball.

On the other hand, Rahul didn’t look comfortable at all as he chased balls outside the off-stump. Continuing his poor knack of going for balls away from the stumps and as a result, gave away his wicket.

It was a touch outside off when Rahul got a faint edge straight into the hands of Jonny Bairstow.

James Anderson erupted in joy while KL Rahul looked disappointed and punched his glove while going back.

When Anderson looked in good rhythm, rain saved any further damage to India.
