England vs India, 4th Test: Gautam Gambhir Backs India in the Run Chase

Gautam Gambhir feels that Team India will be confident of chasing anywhere around 250 in the fourth innings at Ageas Bowl in Southampton. By the look of things, the southpaw feels that the pitch is still perfect to bat on.

Hence he thinks that India will back themselves to chase the target which England will set. He also felt that the visiting team will look to wrap up the English innings quickly so that the hosts don’t set India anything over the 250-run mark.

Meanwhile, on Day four morning, India has already bagged the wicket of Stuart Broad. However, their thorn in the flesh is none other than Sam Curran, who has scored everytime he has come out to bat in the series so far. However, India will be hopeful of finishing things off pretty quickly.

Gautam Gambhir backs Indian batters to chase down 245-250

“Looking forward to today’s play. Obviously, it is going to be an exciting day’s play. The match is in the balance. India will be looking to wrap up things pretty quickly,” Gambhir maintained in ToI’s report.

 

“Meanwhile, England will look to take their lead to 260-270. If they can manage to do that, obviously they will be in a much better position. But then obviously you will back the Indian batters to chase anywhere around 250,” he added.

 

“All in all, it is a very good wicket to bat on. Obviously, it is gripping a little bit. It is much slower, and the Indian batters should back themselves to chase the target down. It will be a great day’s play, and I am looking forward to the day’s play,” Gambhir said.

Meanwhile, India just bowled out England for 272 runs and will require 245 runs to level the five-match series 2-2. Meanwhile, India will undoubtedly hope to chase the target down and level the series.

It will be a sensational comeback from India if they do manage to achieve the feat against England as Gautam Gambhir is hopeful.
