Gone are those days when the selection of a player is solely based on his performance in domestic cricket. The scores and wickets of the players in the Domestic trophies are used to be the parameters for the players. However, everything isn’t the same, as the Indian Premier League completely changed the system. Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar points out an issue besides highlighting the emergence of Jasprit Bumrah.

I don’t support if player gets selected in ODI because of IPL Performance – Sachin Tendulkar

Speaking of the Test Cricket, the former cricketer of India Sachin Tendulkar quoted that the Indian Premier League has done a lot of good for the game of cricket, still, he doesn’t want to consider the performance in IPL as the parameter for the national selection.

Especially, for the fast bowlers, Sachin Tendulkar feels it is understandable to see the bowlers receiving the call-up for T20I games based on IPL performance. But, he doesn’t want the bowlers to get the call-up to ODI or Test format of the game for their show in the shortest format of the game.

However, the legendary cricketer has made Jasprit Bumrah as an exception in this analysis. Sachin Tendulkar quoted that every bowler will not be Jasprit Bumrah, who has got an impeccable talent.

“I think if somebody has done well in the IPL, then he is fit to represent India in T20 Internationals. It is absolutely fair. But if somebody does well in the IPL and because of that performance he is picked for Tests and even ODIs, I think there would be a question mark.”

“I don’t support that unless there is an exceptional talent, who can be good across formats. Jasprit Bumrah is one example. Otherwise normal players, if they do well in IPL, that performance should only be considered for T20 formats.”

Well, the analysis of Sachin Tendulkar is perfect, as the bowlers, who are performing in domestic matches are hardly getting chances to bag a place in the National team. Besides that, the selection based on domestic performances will also see the quality skills at display when they receive the call-up.

I just love what I script. Over the years, Cricket has been my passion and crisping articles on it gives me an immense pleasure...Cheers...!!!
