R Sai Kishore has been making headlines in the domestic circuit for a while now. The left-arm spinner grabbed the attention following his stunning show in the Tamil Nadu Premier League for a couple of straight seasons. He was expected to play in the IPL 2018 and 2019 seasons, but unfortunately, it wasn’t the case. However, in IPL 2020 auction, opportunity knocked his door in the form of Chennai Super Kings, who picked him at the last moment.

Chennai Super Kings led by Stephen Fleming during IPL 2020 Auction purchased only four players, one of whom was Kishore. Speaking about introducing himself to Dhoni and rubbing shoulders with him, Kishore doesn’t wish to clutter his mind. But the spinner is eyeing to pick the brains to the legendary wicket-keeper of India.

”Yes, I was expecting that some team will pick me up during the auction and I am really glad that CSK picked me up. It’s a special feeling because from my childhood I have been cheering for the side and to be a part of the CSK side feels very special. No, I don’t know how it will unfold. It feels pretty special, but I haven’t given much thought about it. I guess I’ll get to learn something from my CSK captain as he’s a legend,” R Sai Kishore said to My Khel.

I will give my best – R Sai Kishore

Kishore’s inclusion was a surprise move from Chennai Super Kings, who already have enough spinners on their side. They got the likes of Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Karn  Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and the latest recruit Piyush Chawla alongside the part-time spinners Kedar Jadhav, Suresh Raina and Murali Vijay.

”I haven’t thought about it, but I would like to focus on my performance and leave the rest to the team management. I have not played any IPL games, and it will be my debut season, but whatever I have done and learnt at the domestic level, I am pretty confident that I’ll give my best if I get a chance,” he added.
