Team India skipper Virat Kohli was in his elements on day two of the second Test against South Africa at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Kohli registered his double century and also went past 7000 Test runs as India are in line to post massive first innings total.

Resuming at 273 for three, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane saw off South Africa’s seamers in the opening hour before buckling down and extending India’s total. Kohli completed his 26th Test match hundred and his first of the year moments before the close of the second session while Rahane worked his way to a fighting fifty himself.

Both of them dominated the proceedings except a few outside chances that went begging. Although Keshav Maharaj got the wicket of Rahane – the only to fell in the season, Virat Kohli looked in song to post a massive total once again after Visakhapatnam.

The India skipper played his shots easily as the bowlers went in search of the leather. Kohli picked up the gears after crossing his 150 and cleared the boundary ropes easily. Eventually, he crossed his double hundred – his seventh in Test cricket. Besides, he also went past 7000 Test runs to go past Dilip Vengsarkar.
Virat Kohli took very little time to go from his 200 to 250 but India decided to declare with the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja. Kohli once again won the hearts of the fans as he put his team in front ahead of his personal milestone. The Indian bowlers will now go hard at the South Africa batters in the last hour.
Meanwhile, the fans gave a standing ovation to the talismanic batsman who recently lost numero uno position in the ICC Test rankings. The spectators also bowed down to Virat Kohli on his magical feat.
