Hours before the World Cup clash between India and New Zealand was scheduled to start, the fans on social media were joking that rain would be the winner. And for the time being, it looks like they were spot on. The weather forecast for today was not promising anyway but a dry spell for a while in the morning had raised hopes.
However, it started raining just before the toss and it to be delayed. The umpires finally inspected the field almost two hours later but did not find the conditions suitable for the game. The current condition is not promising either and it is just a matter of time before the umpires call off the game. If that happens, it will be the fourth game to be washed out in the ongoing edition.

The highest number of games to be washed out in a single edition of the World Cup was two. And with the forecast for the upcoming days not very promising either, one can see more games being washed out.

Both the teams, meanwhile, will walk away with one point each if the rain does not stop. The washed-out game will mean both India and New Zealand will remain undefeated in the tournament. New Zealand have won both of their opening two games thus far while India have also won their first two games. With both the teams in good form at the moment, the fans were looking forward to a cracker of a contest.
