Fans Fear The Worst For Rishabh Pant As Wriddhiman Saha Impresses

Not very long ago, Rishabh Pant was a fan favourite. His exploits in the Indian Premier League and in Tests made him an instant hit among the demanding Indian fans. The youngster made his Test debut last year in England and went on to score a century in the same series. In the following series against West Indies, he scored two fifties.
Rishabh Pant then further enhanced his reputation by slamming another Test century in Australia. However, he has struggled to do well in ODIs and T20Is in recent times. His failure to make the chances count in World Cup and a miserable tour of West Indies saw him receive criticism from all around.
And the failures saw him lose his place in the playing eleven to Wriddhiman Saha in Tests. Before the ongoing Test series against South Africa, Saha had not played since the Cape Town Test at the start of 2018. Saha remained sidelined for the better part of 2018 due to an injury. He made his comeback during the West Indies tour but warmed the bench as Pant was understandably preferred ahead of him.

However, the veteran returned to the playing eleven for the ongoing series and has made the most of it. Before the start of the series, skipper Virat Kohli hailed him as the best in the world and Saha has truly justified it by taking some absolute blinders in the series. And as Saha continues to impress behind the stumps, many fans think that it is not a good sign for Pant.
After Saha’s heroics in the ongoing second Test, the fans took to Twitter to state that Pant might find it tough to win back his place.
Here are some of the reactions:
Saha for home and Pant for abroad will be the strategy

I had seen a few people taking digs at Saha for his average wicketkeeping at Vizag. Most of them were angry because he took Pant's place. Saha is the best test wicketkeeper in India at the moment and there is nothing you can do about it. #INDvSA

Dinesh Karthik 60(26), Samson 212 and both having a decent tournament overall, MSD still hasn’t retired, Saha being preferred in tests. Pant be like. #INDvSA pic.twitter.com/mtJ7O68Ly9

And that folks, is why Saha was correctly picked over Pant. Two wickets in the match for the Bengal warrior #INDvSA

When it comes to wicket keeping Wriddhiman Saha is far better than Rishabh Pant anyday. #INDvSA #INDvsSA

That's why after MSD only person is Superhuman in Wicketkeeping and that is this Guy. The one and only Wriddhiman Saha. Pant should learn from him how to do it. #Saha #INDvsSA pic.twitter.com/vRTFY4HRz6
