Chairman of selectors MSK Prasad has more or less made it clear that MS Dhoni is not an automatic choice in the Indian team anymore. Speculations are rife over MS Dhoni’s retirement ever since the World Cup ended in July this year. The former India skipper has not played a competitive game since the semifinal loss to New Zealand in the World Cup.
As soon as the tournament was over, MS Dhoni took a sabbatical from the game and later extended it. He is yet to return to action and there is still no clarity over when will he return to action. But the selectors seem to have made up their minds on the veteran. MSK Prasad made it clear that the selectors will bank on youngsters as he said ‘we are moving on’.
“We are moving on,” Prasad said after announcing the squads for the upcoming series against Bangladesh. “Going into domestic cricket, getting his touch back or thoughts about retirement, everything is purely his personal [decision].
“We’ve already laid the roadmap for the future, I’m sure you can see in the way we are selecting the teams. We definitely had a chat with Dhoni and he also endorses our view of backing youngsters,” he added.

Now only time will tell how the remaining days of MS Dhoni’s career pans out. But for the time being, MSK Prasad is facing the heat from the fans for his comments on MS Dhoni. The fans took to Twitter to slam the chief selector as they questioned his credibility.
Here are some of the reactions:
"MSK Prasad is the Shikhandi who killed the aging Bhishm Pitamah of Indian Cricket Shri Mahendra Singh Dhoni"
The Chief Selector has gone deranged. Such incongruous reasoning! Indian Cricket needs better people at the helm of affairs. Not jokers like MSK Prasad. Hope @SGanguly99 brings in the change! https://t.co/UDzxA3zfWI
Players undeserving in India's T20I squad vs Ban – Krunal Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan, Shardul Thakur. Hopefully, this is the last Selection by MSK Prasad & his team. #INDVsBan
Sir i need to ask you a question..Who the hell is #MSKPRASAD…he doesn't have any experience in international cricket and he is saying that we are moving on from Dhoni…First of all he destroy ambati rayudu career and now he is insulting the great MS Dhoni….
I think BCCI should move on from you @MSKPrasad_ whom you are , what did you achieved, whether you are truly qualified for this position??? Team lost World Cup because of your poor team selection..Empty vessels make more noise ??
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant is set to be the first-choice wicketkeeper for the upcoming series. On the other hand, Sanju Samson will be the backup wicketkeeper.
