The All-India Selection Committee chairman MSK Prasad has confirmed that few players will be rested before the pivotal Australian tour. Thus, it means the imperative players will get rest for the series against the Windies. India has always had a hectic schedule and thus it is crucial to manage the workload of the players. Consequently, keeping the same mindset, selectors had rested Indian skipper Virat Kohli for the Asia Cup.

India’s tour of Australia will begin from November 21. The tourists will play three T20 Internationals, four Test matches and three One-Dayers on the tour of Down Under. Therefore, it is going to be another long tour for the Indian team.

Players will get rest for the home series against the Windies.

MSK Prasad said while talking to Times of India,In the last Indian bowling session in the fifth Test, our bowlers were bowling at speeds of 90 miles per hour. As part of this injury prevention process and workload management process, we have rested Virat Kohli for the Asia Cup and also intend to rest a few more players in the upcoming home series before the Australia tour”.

Meanwhile, MSK Prasad said they have a clear plan to manage the injury as well as the workload of their players. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar injury was not handled with guile as he played the ODI decider against England.

On the other hand, question marks were also raised over Ravichandran Ashwin fitness. Ashwin didn’t look fit in the fourth Test match at Southampton.

We have a plan for workload management.

“I totally disagree. We have a clear plan with regard to injury prevention and workload management. The outstanding performance of our fast bowlers in South Africa and England is the testimony to our workload management program. The basic fitness parameters fixed by us has raised our fitness standards. If our boys can fight till the last session of the 83rd day of the England tour with the same intensity that they fought on the first day of the tour, it speaks volumes about our fitness standards and the ability to fight”.

It makes sense to manage the workload of the players. The Indian players are playing continuously and they can’t afford to give their 100% if they are not fresh.
