Fit Kedar Jadhav Surprised By Non-Inclusion In India Squad For Windies ODIs

Kedar Jadhav has expressed his surprise over not being included in the India squad for the remaining three games against Windies.
India announced their 15-man squad for the remaining three ODI against Windies. They recalled pace bowling duo Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah and dropped Mohammed Shami. But surprisingly, Kedar Jadhav’s name was nowhere to be seen. Jadhav was sidelined after sustaining a hamstring injury during the Asia Cup.
He, however, underwent rehabilitation at the NCA in Bangalore and also cleared the fitness Test. After that, the selectors drafted him in the India A squad midway through the Deodhar Trophy. Jadhav made an instant impression by slamming 41 off 25. He also ran three doubles in the last over of the innings to show his fitness.

But the selectors surprisingly snubbed him for the remaining ODIs against Windies. To make matters worse, they did not even inform Jadhav about their decision, as the cricketer claimed he came to know about the new only from the reporters.
“I did not know this,” said Jadhav when asked if there was any communication over his selection for the remaining three games against the West Indies.
“Let’s see. You are the first one to tell me this. I need to see why they have not picked me. I don’t know what the plan is now that I am not there in the team. Probably, I will be playing the Ranji Trophy,” he added.
His comments came in the wake of heavy criticism faced by the selectors for lack of communication with players before dropping them. India Test players Karun Nair and Murali Vijay had said the selectors did not communicate with them before dropping them.

Jadhav further expressed his disappointment over sustaining the injury.
“Rehab was good. I passed all the tests and came here match fit. It is all fine. Obviously, it hurts when you are in form and get injured. It creates uncertainty on when you will get the next opportunity. And when you comeback, you have to start from scratch again as you end up missing a lot of matches. It hurts but you have to accept it and move on,” he said.
Well, Jadhav will now be looking to pile runs in the domestic circuit to win his place back for the series against Australia towards the end of the year.
