Five Better Batsmen in Ranji Trophy Than Sachin Tendulkar

The Ranji Trophy is the first-class domestic championship in India where regional and other state teams take part in a competition.

The competition is named after the first Test cricketer of India sir Ranjitsinhji Vibhaji Jadeja.

So far as the greatest batsman of India is concerned, Sachin Tendulkar has taken part in 38 Ranji Trophy games. He has 18 centuries and 19 half-centuries with a handsome average of 85.

When it comes to the most challenging inning of a Test match, Sachin Tendulkar has a whopping average of 134.33 in fourth innings of Ranji Trophy history. His personal best in Ranji Trophy is 233*.

Going with the same flow, Cricket Addictor brings you top five batsmen who are probably better batsman than him in Ranji Trophy history. Unfortunately, no one among them got a chance to represent the Indian team at the international level.

Azom Mazumdar

The 43-year old Mazumdar from Andhra, Assam has 171 first-class matches. He has 11267 first-class runs with a personal best of 260* with a whopping average of 48.13. He has 30 tons and 60 half-centuries.

So far as Ranji Trophy is concerned, Mazumdar has scored 9902 runs as compared to 4281 of Sachin Tendulkar.

Devendra Bundela

He is the former cricketer from Madhya Pradesh who has more than 10,000 runs in first-class cricket. He played 164 first-class matches and scored at an average of 43.68.

The 41-year old Bundela has 9201 runs in Ranji Trophy that are around twice as compared to Sachin Tendulkar. Unfortunately, he never featured in the Indian team.

Mithun Manhas

Although he got a chance to showcase his skills he never featured at International level. In IPL, he played for many big teams like Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils.

With an average of 45.82, Manhas has 9714 in 157 matches of his first-class career. In Ranji Trophy, he has 8554 runs.

Amarjit Kaypee

He has the most number of runs before the Azom Mazumdar leapfrogged him in 2009.
The Punjab based cricketer has 7623 in Ranji Trophy.

His overall first-class runs are 7894 at an average of 52.27. His career best is 210* in 117 first-class matches.

Pankaj Dharmani

He played for Punjab in domestic and played a single ODI match against South Africa in 1996. He could only score eight runs in that match besides involved in four dismissals as a wicket-keeper.

At an average of 50.06, he has 9312 first-class runs in 147 matches. He has 42 half-centuries and 26 tons. He has 7621 runs in Ranji Trophy but unfortunately never got a Test nod.
