5. Javagal Srinath to Meyrick Pringle:

Javagal Srinath had inflicted a brutal injury on South Africa pacer Meyrick Pringle when both the teams locked horns in Johannesburg in 1992. The bouncer from Srinath hit Pringle on his left eye and he had to be stretchered off. Pringle did not take any further part in the game. He could not play another Test again until 1995, when he played his final Test match against England.

4. Irfan Pathan to Mark Vermeulen:

Zimbabwe batsman Mark Vermeulen suffered one of the deadliest injuries witnessed in the game when India and Zimbabwe were playing against each other at the Gabba in 2004. The bouncer from Irfan Pathan had hit the Zimbabwe batsman right above his eye socket. Later, the Zimbabwe team-management had confirmed that the batsman suffered a ‘nasty fracture’

3. Varun Aaron to Stuart Broad:

During the tour of England in 2014, India pacer Varun Aaron had injured Stuart Broad with a nasty rising delivery. Broad was retired hurt after being struck on the nose by the  bouncer on the third day of the fourth Test at Old Trafford. Just before the incident happened, Broad had hooked a couple of Aaron bouncers for two sixes in as many balls.

But, trying to make it three in a row, he failed to connect with the ball and ended up receiving a blow on his eye.

2. Jasprit Bumrah to Darren Bravo:

On India’s recent tour of West Indies, Jasprit Bumrah had hit Darren Bravo with a well directed bouncer. At the last moment, Bravo had taken his eyes off the ball and was hit on his helmet. He was later ruled out of the match due to concussion.

1. Javagal Srinath to Ricky Ponting:

Srinath was one of the fastest bowlers in the world during his peak. He was not easy to play and former Australia captain Ricky Ponting must have realised it when India were playing against Australia in the 1999-2000 season. Srinath’s bouncer hit Ponting’s helmet and the pacer straightaway went to apologise to the batsman. But then Ponting being Ponting reacted in a crude manner although the India pacer had won that round of the duel.
