Imran has been in jail since August 2023, and he was recently taken for a medical examination in Islamabad before being sent back to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
Well, the entire cricket world has expressed concern for the former Pakistan prime minister after Imran’s sons, Sulaiman and Kasim, spoke to Michael Atherton during Sky Sports’ coverage of the England-Pakistan Test at Lord’s. They raised concerns about their father’s health and prison conditions.
They claimed that Imran was kept isolated for more than 23 hours a day. But the Pakistan authorities have rejected the allegations and said Imran is receiving proper medical care. Now, Javed Miandad has joined the long list of players who have come out in support of the legendary all-rounder.
He urged the Pakistani government to release Imran from jail and sit together to find a common solution. Miandad also denied any rivalry with the former Pakistan captain. Amid this, Imam-ul-Haq was accused of faking injuries by an ex-Pakistan selector.

Javed Miandad said during an interview on the Narrative YouTube channel: “He is an honest man. He is not someone who engages in corrupt practices; otherwise, he would have done a lot of things. What will happen if you let him out? Will he eat or damage someone? He is also someone's son. I always think about what he must be doing.”
At one point during the interview, Miandad became emotional. He added, “What can I say? You have made me cry. This is from the bottom of my heart. I will do anything for you.”
Their bond goes back to Pakistan’s golden cricket era of the 1980s and early 1990s. Miandad said that his long association with Imran Khan helped him understand the former captain closely.
They played together for Pakistan, spent time together during county cricket in England, and also led Pakistan at different stages. Miandad became Pakistan captain before Imran Khan.
Miandad said, “There was no enmity at all. We used to understand each other very well. Unfortunately, I pray to Allah that everything gets solved.”
Pat Cummins breaks silence on Imran Khan’s health, calls for dignified treatment
Meanwhile, Australia captain Pat Cummins has joined the calls for better medical care for Imran, becoming the first active cricketer to publicly support the campaign. His comments came after 22 former international captains wrote to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, asking for proper medical treatment for Imran in prison.
The group included former captains from Australia, India, England, New Zealand, and the West Indies. This was the second such appeal. Earlier in February, 14 former captains had also written to the Pakistan government but received no response.
