Normally, cricketers are renowned for their on-field display due to which they are adored by their fans. Indian players such as Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Kapil Dev have fans all across the globe.

In order to consistently perform at high standards, international players have to follow a strict routine which also includes their diet. Almost all world-class players follow a strict diet in order to be fit to play at the international level. They have to give up on their favourite food items which is a sacrifice for an injury-free career.

But, do you know that there are some international players who own restaurants? Apart from Cricket being a source of income, owning hotels also helps cricketers to focus on something other than cricket, when they are not playing.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2009 and has since established himself as one of the most reliable all-rounders. However, few people know that Jadeja owns a restaurant called ‘Jaddu’s Food Field’, which he opened in the year 2012, in Rajkot.

Known to serve various lip-smacking dishes, Jadeja’s hotel is one of the best in Rajkot. It serves mostly Indian cuisine and has a very family-friendly atmosphere.

An interesting fact is that the hotel is a sort of lucky charm for Jadeja because, after its opening, the 31-year-old got his first call up to the Test team.

He himself revealed this, in an interview, also adding that the number 12 is very lucky for him. His birthday comes in December and opened his hotel in 2012.

Virat Kohli’s love for food is well documented. Growing up in Delhi, the Indian skipper loved street food as a youngster but has to maintain his diet now.

In his past interviews, Kohli has revealed that he has to follow a strict routine to maintain his fitness.

However, for the love of food, Kohli has opened his own hotel in Delhi, called ‘Nueva’. Started in 2017, the hotel is a big crowd puller, because it serves some amazing dishes. The 31-year-old himself shares videos and pictures of his hotel on social media.

Whenever Virat is in Delhi, he makes sure to visit his restaurant, which is why many youngsters visit his place, in order to get a chance of meeting their idol, as well as gorging on delicious food.

Kapil Dev

The list of players who own restaurants also includes legendary Indian all-rounder Kapil Dev. The man who delivered India its first-ever World Cup in 1983, opened his own theme based restaurant in 2008.

Owing to his love for cricket, Kapil opened a restaurant called ‘Elevens’, which is based on the theme of cricket. Being an incredibly successful former captain of the Indian cricket team, Kapil has kept in mind every little detail that fans would like to see in a restaurant.

For the floor of his hotel, he has put an artificial turf, meanwhile, the walls of his place are decorated with flags of various countries. Indeed, Kapil’s restaurant ‘Elevens’ based in Patna is a dreamy place for cricket fans.

On matchdays, this place is full of fans who support team India while enjoying some drool-worthy food.

Zaheer Khan

In his peak, Zaheer Khan was one of the most lethal pace bowlers in the world. His contribution in India’s World Cup triumph in 2011, can never be forgotten.

Since retiring from the sport, Zaheer became an entrepreneur and opened his first restaurant in Pune called ZK’s. Just like his cricket career, his second innings as a businessman has been incredibly successful. Fans regularly visit Zaheer’s hotel which is well renowned for serving amazing food to the public.

Despite being a little expensive, ZK’s is a place where people go with their friends and family to have a great time. It is one of the hottest food joints in Pune.

Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara

Sri Lanka’s legendary players Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene also feature in the list of players who own restaurants.

Renowned for their legendary partnership of 624 runs, the duo continued their friendship off the field as well, by opening a restaurant named ‘Ministry of Crabs’.

Head chef Dharshan Munidasa is a great friend of both Sangakkara and Jayawardene. For the sake of their love for seafood, the trio opened their own restaurant in Colombo, in 2011.

After the opening of the first restaurant, it became an incredible success, and now the hotel has become a chain, with Mumbai, Shanghai, and Manila also becoming home to the ‘Ministry of Crabs’.
