Cricket is known to be a batsman’s game but there is no denying the fact the bowlers hold equal importance in changing the outcome of a match owing to a nail-biter.
Over the years, we have seen some exceptional performances by bowlers across the world. Be it pacers or spinners, they have delighted us with their talent and we have all enjoyed it over a long period of time.
However, there are many lesser-known bowlers who produced some stunning performances which people hardly remember.
In those particular matches, they were at their sensational best and produced magical performances for their respective team.
In this slideshow, we will look at the five stunning bowling performance from relatively lesser known bowlers:
Andy Bichel- 7/20 Australia against England in 2003 World Cup:
Promising bowler Andy Bichel was never a regular in the Australian ODI squad. Given the strong side, they had back then it was impossible for Bichel to keep his place despite putting up consistent performances.
In one of the group matches against England in 2003, World Cup Bichel produced a magical bowling performance which totally dismantled the English batting line-up.
Bichel bowled with pace and swung the ball prodigiously. He bowled in the right areas and the pitch did the rest. Bichel also batted very well as Australia won the match by two wickets.
Winston Davis- 7/51 Windies against Australia in 1983:
Winston Davis was a relatively unknown commodity in the Windies bowling line-up which had stalwarts all around. He went on to play the 1983 World Cup.
In a match against Australia, David produced a magnificent spell of bowling where he bagged seven Australian wickets giving away 51 runs. He claimed the wickets of Kim Hughes, Graeme Yallop, and David Hookes.
Davis later returned in his second spell to bag four more to finish with figures of seven for 51. It was great bowling by the newcomer.
However, he was unable to find a permanent spot in the team given their ferocious bowling line-up during that time.
Stuart Binny- 6/4 India against Bangladesh in 2014:
Stuart Binny has never found a permanent side in the Indian squad. However, during an Asia Cup match in 2014, Binny produced a magical spell. He bagged six wickets for just four runs in a sensational spell of swing bowling.
India was defending a score just over 100 runs and required early wickets to jolt the Bangladesh batting line-up.
Binny was spectacular and bowled in the right areas quite consistently. He kept bagging wickets one after the other as Bangladesh folded out for a mere 58 runs.
It was a great piece of bowling but he never happened to be a permanent feature in the Indian squad.
Bryan Strang- 6/20 Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh in 1997:
It was the fourth match of the President’s Club played in Nairobi. The elder of the Strang brother, Bryan bowled a great spell bagging six wickets against a lopsided Bangladesh side.
The off-spinner Bryan bowled in the right areas. The Bangladesh batters played some horrendous shots which eventually helped Bryan to bag all those wickets.
His exceptional spell helped Zimbabwe bowl out Bangladesh for just 92 runs. They registered a huge victory by 192 runs in the end.
Rana Naved Ul Hasan- 6/27 Pakistan vs India in 2005:

Pakistan was touring India after 5-6 years and it was time for the young pacer to show his skills.
Pakistan needed to win the third match in Jamshedpur to keep their hopes alive in the series. They posted 319 after batting first.
And Naveed then produced a magnificent spell where he bagged six Indian batsmen which never really allowed the hosts to claw their way back into the match.
Pakistan banked often on their quality bowlers. Naveed began with the wickets of Virender Sehwag, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and Sourav Ganguly.
From there on India had no way to make a comeback. He went on to bag three more as Pakistan completed a 106 runs victory
