Five Promising Batsmen Who Can Make it to India's Test Team in 2019

The Virat Kohli’s team are continuously dominating the world cricket nowadays, and 2019 is not that far we will witness promising batsmen performing for Team India in Test cricket.

In the latest ICC Test rankings, India achieved top spot. Although India may be the No.1 Test team right now, there are some issues which India needs to address as soon as possible. Whether the opening slot or dependable middle-order batsmen, some problems need quick readdress.

India has a perfect line up when it comes to bowling unit however things are different in batting unit. This is not what we often see in Indian cricket.

The first Test match against England at Edgbaston and the last tour to South Africa forced Indian management to keep a check on Indian batting.

The Indian selectors need to take some bold decisions and throw axe on those who are consistently inconsistent. The deserving faces should get a chance to feature in the next Test schedule.

Let us take a look at five promising batsmen who deserve to play Tests for India in 2019.

Shreyas Iyer:

Shreyas Iyer is yet to make his Test debut. He got a chance to feature as the last replacement of Indian skipper, Virat Kohli. He finds his name in the squad of the fourth and final Test match against Australia in Dharmshala.

Iyer’s numbers are phenomenal from last few years in Ranji Trophy. Moreover, he had a great outing against South Africa A and Australia A in the previous series.

He got a chance to feature in the limited-overs team when he batted down the order. Unfortunately, he could not grab the eyeballs of selectors after that. He averages 54 in 46 First-class matches and deserves to play Test cricket for Team India.

Mayank Agarwal:

Mayank Agarwal has amassed most runs in the domestic in a single season. In one domestic season, Agarwal scored 2,162 runs in 32 innings with an average of 67.56 per innings.

The season includes Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, Irani Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, Deodhar Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy respectively.

Besides this, he was in a right touch when India A toured of England. He scored a pile of runs against England Lions in a three-day unofficial match. In the ongoing Test against South Africa A, he scored an unbeaten double ton.

Hanuma Vihari:

Hanuma Vihari is a part-time bowler who is highly consistent with the bat. In the more extended format of the game, he is displaying a good show one after another.

Vihari is famous for ruling out Jamaican Star, Chris Gayle in IPL. He played 61 games for Andra Pradesh.

Besides this, he featured for India A, South Zone and had scored 4940 runs at a fantastic average of 59.51. In his last few appearances, Vihari had a reasonable conversion rate. He had a good outing against England when he was on tour with India A.

One of such promising batsmen could make it to the Test team of India in 2019.

Rishabh Pant:

Rishabh Pant is a new poster boy in Indian circles. He got a call against pivotal five-matches Test series against England. However, he is unlikely to grab a chance due to the presence of Dinesh Karthik.

He grabbed the spotlight after slamming 600 runs in IPL 2018 and tore apart some best bowling line attacks. He amassed a pile of runs against England Lions and West Indies A.

Prithvi Shaw:

Prithvi Shaw is the latest member to join this chart. Shaw led his team to win the title of Under-19 World Cup in 2018. He gained a lot of name and fame after helping India to clinch the coveted title in New Zealand.

Shaw played only 12 First-class games till now and amassed 1,262 runs at an average of 57.36. He slammed 136 against South Africa A and had a good outing in England with India A.
