India’s chairman of selectors MSK Prasad has already made it very clear that the team management has moved on from MS Dhoni. The selectors are keen to give young prospects like Rishabh Pant a chance considering the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. MS Dhoni was last seen in cricketing action during the team’s semi-final against New Zealand and ever since India’s exit from the showpiece event in England in July, he didn’t feature for the Indian national cricket team again.

He took a 2-month sabbatical from international cricket to join Indian army regiment. The World Cup-winning India captain MS Dhoni was spotted in the Indian dressing room after the team’s innings and 202-run victory over South Africa in the third Test in Jharkhand, Ranchi. He was then spotted training with Jharkhand’s under-23 team in Ranchi some days ago. This gave good signs of him making a possible comeback.

MS Dhoni is not a part of the team’s set-up in the limited-overs assignment against the West Indies which is commencing on December 6. The home series includes three T20Is and 3 ODIs. Earlier, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that MS Dhoni will get the utmost respect that a player of his calibre deserves and had also ruled out retirement by the celebrated wicketkeeper-batsman.

“You know champions don’t finish quickly,” Ganguly had stated when he was appointed as Board President last month.
