Former Pakistan cricketer, Abdul Razzaq re-lives the moment when MS Dhoni walked into the ground at number three and slammed 148 off 123, as India posted a mammoth total of 356/9. However, it was MS Dhoni who had made us greedy to want something more from him.
Razzaq remembers MS Dhoni’s Vizag knock
Meanwhile, the former India captain played several match-winning knocks and had plenty of ICC trophies in his cabinet. Dhoni led India to win the 2011 World Cup. Moreover, it was the last World Cup for Indian legend, Sachin Tendulkar.
However, the all-rounder, Abdul Razzaq recalled how everybody in his group had been questioning who MS Dhoni was. And after his innings, he knew India had discovered a particular participant.
“We were wondering who he was. After he smashed those 148 runs, we got the answer. His confidence, for someone who’d started his international career, was amazing. After watching him pelt our attack, I sensed he’d be a big player,” Razzaq told Mirror.
Furthermore, MS Dhoni turned out to be the most successful Indian captain. He holds the two World Cup titles – ICC World T20 in South Africa in 2007 and ICC World Cup 2011 at home and also has a Champions Trophy to his name.
“There was a certain look about him, an indistinguishable quality that’s hard to explain. Also, you might be a fantastic player, but it’s equally essential to be a good person. And Dhoni is one such,” he added.
“India should be proud this man reciprocated fans’ faith by giving two World Cups, the 2007 World T20, and the 2011 50-overs.”
However, the 38-year-old Razzaq has played 46 Tests, 265 ODIs and 32 T20Is also mentioned MS Dhoni is not only a vital participant but his presence on the field provides some support to the other cricketers. Meanwhile, the wicket-keeper batsman has played 328 ODI matches scoring 10123 runs with ten centuries and 67 half-centuries. MS Dhoni is an excellent skipper with good reflex and had taken 307 catches and 113 stumpings.
