Four Batsmen Who Can Break Sachin Tendulkar’s Record Of Most ODI Centuries; Sachin Tendulkar, the man, the legend, the god: a phenomenon that took over the country a little over two decades ago and turned cricket into a religion in India. But, the journey from the streets of Mumbai to lifting the ICC ODI World Cup wasn’t an easy one for this flamboyant batsman.

Sachin struggled to get past the three-figure mark in the early part of his career. The Mumbai batsman who started as a middle-order player managed to score just 2126 runs from his first 78 matches at an average of 32.71 and strike rate of 78.28. It was on September 17th in 1994 when Sachin Tendulkar scored his 1st ODI century against Australia at Colombo.

After Sachin scored his first ODI century, he was a completely different batsman.

Sachin started to open for India in the next 385 ODIs scoring 16300 runs at an average of 47.11 and strike rate of 87.28. He scored 49 ODI centuries and 79 fifties after that. Sachin retired after scoring 100 international centuries. In total, he scored 18426 runs in his ODI career.

Meanwhile, we came up with four batsmen, who can break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI centuries.

Yeah, the South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock is one of the few lads in the world cricket, who got the calibre to reach the magical number. The flamboyant batsman scored runs with ease for South Africa and looking to dominate the world charts after taking captaincy role. He already scored 15 centuries in 121 games and got enough time to flourish his willow.

And also, Quinton, aged 27, is entering into his best phase to make things fall in place. He already created an impact with his incredible skills of smashing the ball and achieved brilliant success rate, across the world.

Some of the feats which he has accomplished at his age are enigmatic and it’s easy to see why he is already being advertised as a future great. Not only is de Kock one heck of a batsman, but the value he brings to the side by donning the gloves is tremendous.

Babar Azam, at the age of 26 has already scored 12 centuries in his 75 ODI innings for Pakistan. Well, those numbers will certainly welcome him to this chart. The Pakistani batsman has been tremendous for his side since his debut in 2015. He scored his 5th century in his 25th inning to become the quickest individual to reach the mark after Quinton de Kock.

Mostly, he bats in top-order and hardly misses out the scoring opportunity for his side. If he continues to perform at the same rate, it is obvious that Babar Azam will end becoming one of the greatest heroes of Pakistan Cricket.

Well, with age on his side and being one of the fittest cricketers in the world, Babar Azam is a strong contender to break the record of Sachin Tendulkar.

The vice-captain of the Indian National Cricket Team Rohit Sharma is one top contender to achieve the feat. Though he started his career on a poor note, he became a force to reckon for India in the last few years, especially in the limited-overs format. He already broke quite a few records of Sachin Tendulkar, in fact, a few records, which Sachin Tendulkar never achieved.

With 29 centuries already in his kitty, Rohit Sharma is likely to overhaul the 49-century record of Sachin Tendulkar. The flamboyant batsman mastered the art of scoring big knocks for his side and also got the talent to convert his starts into match-winning knocks.

Looking at his conversion rate, it looks like Rohit Sharma is destined to achieve a few incredible things for India, which never happened before in the game of cricket.

1. Virat Kohli:

Indian captain Virat Kohli has now racked up 43 ODI hundreds in his career that began in 2008. The world record for most ODI hundreds currently rests with, who else, Sachin Tendulkar. The Little Master has 49 centuries in the 50-over format of the game.

So, it’s only a matter of time before Virat breaks Sachin’s record and performs the unprecedented and unforeseen feat of scoring a half-century of centuries in the ODI game.

Currently, Kohli’s record stands at 43 centuries in 251 matches. Kohli recently became the first-ever batsman to score 20,000 runs in a decade en route to his 43rd ODI century against West Indies in the Caribbean.

While he is just seven centuries short of breaking Tendulkar’s record of 49 centuries in ODIs, the Indian captain needs 30 more to overhaul his record of 100 centuries in international cricket.
