From spearheading Team India to T20 World Cup and 50-over World Cup-wins in 2007 and 2011 to successfully forging a career in politics, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has achieved a lot in his career both on and off the field.
After having announced his retirement from all forms of the game, Gautam Gambhir joined the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party [BJP] in March 2019. He was BJP’s candidate from the East Delhi constituency during the 2019 General Elections, where he beat his opponents by a margin of 695,109 votes.
Gambhir, who is currently the Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha, has always been quite vocal on social media about issues concerning Indian cricket or the state of politics in the country.
The 2011 World Cup-winner took to Twitter on Tuesday to interact with his fans via the Question-Answer session. One of the users proceeded to ask Gambhir to choose which profession among cricket or politics is better.
”Which profession is better cricket or politics ? #AskGG @GautamGambhir Winning the world cup or winning elections,” asked the user.
Gambhir replied by saying that he doesn’t consider either of them as a profession. He further added that while cricket was his passion, politics is a way of giving back the love to the people that he has received over the years.
“Neither is a profession for me. Cricket was my passion & politics is a way of giving back the love I received over the yrs!” Gambhir replied.
