Gautam Gambhir Praises Virat Kohli, Says He Has A Winning Mindset

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has praised skipper Virat Kohli for having a winning mindset. He added that Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni had a defensive mindset. “I support Virat’s decision of 5 bowlers. Look I’ve played a lot under MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly but all had that defensive mindset to draw test matches instead winning. Virat has a mindset of winning test matches either at home or overseas!” Gambhir said, heaping praises on Kohli.

Gambhir had made his debut under Rahul Dravid and later played under Dhoni as well. India did not have good record overseas and still, they haven’t started winning on overseas soil on a regular basis.

They did win a Test series in Australia in 2018/19 but have lost their past three Test series in England, out of which two series defeat came under Dhoni while one series defeat came under Kohli last year.
Though he possesses a great home record and India have just lost one Test at home.

Under him, team India have become the team to defeat at home. The bowling department, which has as many as three lead pacers, is the best in the present era and add to it Kohli’s leadership skills.

India have won 29 out of 49 Test matches with Kohli at the helm, with a winning percentage of 58.00. Virat had taken over as full-time Test captain in 2014.

Talking of Gambhir, he retired from the game in December 2018, playing his final match for Delhi against Andhra Pradesh in Ranji Trophy. His last Test had come against England in 2016 under Kohli.

In an international career spanning 12 years, Gambhir played 58 Tests and 147 ODIs scoring 4154 and 5238 runs, respectively. Gambhir also led India in six ODIs, leading the team to victory in all the matches
