Glenn Maxwell Re-Signs Contract To Play For Lancashire In T20 Blast

After having a brilliant season under his belt, Lancashire approached Glenn Maxwell – to play once again for them in the upcoming T20 Blast in 2020. The delighted all-rounder accepted the deal—to feature once again in the tournament for Lancashire.

One of the most sought after players in the T20 circuit, Maxwell played for Lancashire across formats in an important 2019 season, that saw them earn promotion back to the first division of County Championships.

The explosive Australian batter Maxwell had his biggest impact in the 20-over format, aggregating 305 runs from 11 games at a strike-rate of 151. This included a 30-ball half-century on his T20 debut for the side.

Maxwell also took six wickets through the campaign and was duly voted Lancashire’s 2019 T20 Player of the Year.

“Last season was one of the best summers of cricket I have ever experienced and I cannot wait to return to Emirates Old Trafford in 2020,” Maxwell said after signing the new contract.

“We were very unfortunate not to progress further after dominating the North Group and I was so impressed with the talent inside the changing room. I’m very confident we can improve on the quarter-final finish of 2019,” he added.

Glenn Maxwell to represent KXIP in the IPL 2020:

Maxwell captained the Melbourne Stars to a second consecutive Big Bash League final last month and will play for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the IPL.

He has scored nearly 6,000 T20 runs across his entire career including three centuries and a career-best of 145 not out against Sri Lanka in 2016.

Speaking after the signing of the new contract, Lancashire’s Director of Cricket, Paul Allott is happy to have Maxwell on board.

“Glenn is one of the most sought after players in world cricket and to have signed him again after the enormous impact he made last year is hugely significant as we go in search of a second Blast title,” Allott said.

Unfortunately, Maxwell has recently underwent elbow surgery. Also, he got engaged with India-origin girlfriend Vini Raman.
