Joburg Super Kings will sigh a breath of relief as spinner Aaron Phangiso has been cleared from all charges of suspected bowling action. According to a press release by the SA20 league, Aaron Phangiso, the left-arm spinner for South Africa and Joburg Super Kings, has been cleared of any issues with his bowling action after undergoing a re-test.

The league has lifted the suspension that was previously imposed on him as a result of being reported for a suspect bowling action during a match against Pretoria Capitals on January 17 in the inaugural SA20. After undergoing several laboratory tests, Aaron Phangiso was found to have a non-compliant action and was suspended from bowling in the league.

Phangiso was able to play six matches during the SA20 tournament, where he picked up ten wickets and finished as the second-highest wicket-taker for his team, Joburg Super Kings. However, during the tournament, he was reported for a suspect bowling action, which led to his suspension and subsequent remedial work.

This is not the first time that Phangiso’s bowling action has been deemed illegal, as he was previously reported during a match in 2016 and cleared after undergoing remedial work. Phangiso has played for South Africa in 21 ODIs and 16 T20Is, with his last international appearance coming in a T20I against India in 2016.
