Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Umran Malik just rattled the best of the best in the Gujarat Titans (GT) lineup as his lightning-speed bowling was enough to defuse the chase during their IPL 2022 clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Batting first after Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first, SRH had reached a decent total by the time final overcame on for them, thanks mainly to Abhishek Sharma, who made 65 in 42 balls with 3 sixes and 6 fours, and Aiden Markram with 56 in 40 balls. Kane Williamson had fallen for 5 and Rahul Tripathi made 16 good-looking runs.
However, Marco Jansen and Shashank Singh (25* in 6 balls) hit Lockie Ferguson for 25 runs in the last over of their innings and took the final total to 195/6 in 20 overs.
Umran Malik’s Terror Continues As David Miller Gets His Middle Stump Knocked Over
Gujarat Titans’ chase was shouldered by Wriddhiman Saha who made 68 in 38 balls with 11 fours and 1 six. Shubman Gill made 22 and other batters just found it too difficult to handle the searing pace of Umran Malik.
The Jammu and Kashmir pacer was at his paciest best as he took wickets of Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya and got rid of Wriddhiman Saha with a searing 153 kph yorker taking the life out of GT’s chase of 196-run target.
However, GT had hope as David Miller and Rahul Tewatia were still there, but that hope was dashed as Umran produced one of the best and most fast straight balls, which Miller missed and which smashed his middle stump. Miller had made 17 runs with 3 fours, but a 148kph delivery was enough to clean bowl him.
