Harbhajan Singh Reveals Why MS Dhoni Has Not Played For India Since World Cup
Veteran India spinner Harbhajan Singh feels MS Dhoni might have played his last match for India. The off-spinner’s comments have come just hours after BCCI left out MS Dhoni from the list of centrally contracted players. The former India skipper was in the Grade A category in the last list of contracted players.
The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman has not played a competitive game since the World Cup in July. Soon after the World Cup, he took a sabbatical from the game and left for Jammu and Kashmir to serve the Indian army. He was expected to return to action at the start of the home season but the legendary cricketer or perhaps the selectors decided against it. As a result, MS Dhoni missed the home series against South Africa, Bangladesh and West Indies.

He was also not named in the squads for the T20I series against Sri Lanka and the ODI series against Australia. Recently, head coach Ravi Shastri said that Dhoni could retire from ODIs soon but could return to the T20I squad for the T20 World Cup later this year if he does well in the IPL.
And as doubt lingers over MS Dhoni’s, Harbhajan Singh has said that his former India teammate might not play for the Men in Blue again. Harbhajan said that Dhoni had made up his mind on retiring from international cricket after the World Cup and has thus not made himself available after that tournament.
“It is probably the end of the road for MS Dhoni. I heard the World Cup would be his last event for India – after that he won’t play for India again. He had made up his mind long back and that is why he has not made himself available,” Harbhajan Singh told India Today.
Earlier in the day, a BCCI official told PTI that the board had intimated Dhoni about the board’s move in advance. The official said that Dhoni was not awarded a contract since he did not play a single game from October 2019. The contracts will run for the period from October 2019 to September 2020,
“Let me clarify that one of the top-most BCCI office-bearers spoke to MS and told him about how they are going about in the central contracts. He was clearly told that since he hasn’t played any game in the said period (September 2019 till date), he cannot be included for the time being,” PTI quoted a board official.
