Indian swashbuckling all-rounder Hardik Pandya was unstoppable on Sunday as India sealed the T20 series against Australia in fine style while chasing 195. with six wickets to spare. Hardik Pandya, who received the man of the match award, blasted 42 off 22 deliveries as the visitors romped home by six wickets in Sydney. The 26-year old dedicated his match-winning knock to all the fans in India as he took to his official Twitter handle to do the same.
Hardik Pandya continued his sensational run of form from the ODIs in which he struck two half-centuries – only one of which went in a winning cause. The medium-pace bowling all-rounder came when India required 72 off 36 deliveries, needing some big hits from their finisher. While initially, Pandya found it challenging to middle the ball; however, the bat change also altered his fortunes for good.
The men in blue needed 14 runs off the last over and the right-handed batsman sealed the deal with a massive six over mid-wicket. Earlier, India won the toss and chose to bowl, conceding 194. Stand-in captain Matthew Wade struck a quick-fire fifty while there were innings of note from Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Moises Henriques. For India, T Natarajan was once again outstanding, bagging figures of 4-0-20-2. In the post-match presentation, Pandya did state that the left-arm seamer should have received the man of the match since it is a batsman’s paradise.
