Indian National Cricket team all-rounder, Hardik Pandya on Wednesday, responded to the BCCI show cause notice by saying that he was sincerely regretful for the misogynistic and sexists comments he made on a TV show. As a result of comments, he is likely to lose on an endorsement deal.

Meanwhile, Pandya is currently in Australia to feature in the ODI series against Australia starting from January 12 (Saturday). He suffered a lower back injury during the Asia Cup in the UAE and since then was out of action. He returned to the side when the management called him for the last two Test against Australia but didn’t feature in any of the games.

While Hardik Pandya is gearing to make a comeback, the social media roar has taken a toll on him. He replied to the show cause notice from BCCI saying that he didn’t realise that his comments can hurt someone.

I made an appearance on the chat show where I have made certain statements without realising that these could be disrespectful and offend sensitivities of viewers for which I am sincerely regretful,” he wrote in his response, which is in PTI’s possession.

I would like to assure you that there was no malice or any sort of ill-intent on my part to offend anyone or portray any section of the society in bad light. The statements came out in the flow of the show and had not comprehended the extent to which my statements would be found offensive,” he added.

Despite his apology, Hardik Pandya is likely to lose a big endorsement deal after his controversial remarks on the chat show. As per reports, a fitness brand was keen on collaborating with him, but it has all turned awry in the aftermath of the shit-storm that nobody saw coming.

The matter is not yet over

In addition to, a senior BCCI official has said that the matter is not over yet despite Hardik Pandya issuing an apology.

This attempt at an apology does in no way bring the issue to closure. This merely shows how lightly he takes the gravely serious issue of respecting women. His conduct was unacceptable. He needs to understand the impact the utterances of an international cricketer has in this country but more importantly, he needs to learn how to differentiate between the right and the wrong. Right now, he seems to merely respond to the outrage and not to his own thought process and conduct,” he said.
