Hardik Pandya looks set to hit the ground ahead of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). The allrounder was expected to be a part of the Indian squad for the ongoing tour of New Zealand but his back injury took longer to recover. Hardik Pandya has not played for India since September due to a back problem. He underwent a surgery on his back in October and has almost recovered.
In December, he was named in India A squad for the one-day games in New Zealand but was pulled out of the squad as he was still not match ready. But last month, he was seen bowling in the nets to Team India before the Mumbai ODI against Australia.
Hardik Pandya did not look in trouble at all as he bowled to his teammates. It raised hopes that he might return to action during the upcoming Test series in New Zealand. However, he was later ruled out of the Test series too. Last month, he had travelled to London with NCA head physio Ashish Kaushik for a review by spinal surgeon Dr James Allibone.
This was his second visit to London. Pandya had previously travelled to London in October 2019 for a surgery. Presently, he is undergoing a rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy.
And he now looks set to return to action later this month. According to a report in Mid-Day, the allrounder is expected to take part in the DY Patil T20 tournament later this month. He will be representing a Reliance outfit. After missing nearly six month of action, Hardik Pandya will be desperate to hit the ground running.
He is more than likely to be a part of the Indian squad for this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia. The team-management will be hoping that the allrounder hit the top gear soon.
