Wishes continue to galore as Team India captain, Virat Kohli scored his century number 22 in his Test career. Twitter was in awe of Kohli as he overtook Sachin Tendulkar to join an elite club. It was his 15th Test ton as a skipper of India and first in England. The latest to tweet is Harsh Goenka.
Kohli registered an outstanding century while playing a crucial knock. He single-handedly fought against the unfavourable conditions of England. He produced a scintillating performance as he went to score his maiden Test ton in England owing to his poise and tough character.
When India was on the tour of England in 2014, The Indian skipper was going through some miserable patch. He was unable to score freely there.
However, as predicted by cricketing experts and pundits, the captain delivered a different show in Birmingham during the first Test of the five-match Test series.
While facing the likes of James Anderson and Stuart Broad, he scrabbled early on in his innings. Dawid Malan dropped his catch twice on 21 and 51 respectively.
However, Kohli played cautiously until he reached his half-century. Soon after scoring a half-century.
India responded it back with a tally of 274. During the lunch interval of Day two, India would not have even dreamt to touch the 270-run barrier.
But Kohli made it look easy soon after Ben Stokes finished his fierce spell. However, wickets kept tumbling from another end as rest of the batsman could only garner a collective score of 125 runs.
The 29-year-old Kohli did not let the English bowlers decipher whatever is going on his head. To put things in perspective, 92 runs came off the last two wickets, and Ishant and Umesh just scored six off those.
