Harsha Bhogle and Sanjay Manjrekar left the viewers in utter shock with their spat while being on-air during the just-concluded second Test between India and Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens. While India were just few balls away from registering a thumping win, Harsha Bhogle and Manjrekar caught everyone”s attention with their heated exchange of words.

It all started when the two were talking about the pink-ball. Harsha Bhogle started the conversation by saying that India should do a post-mortem of their maiden Pink ball Test and players should be asked for their opinion on the visibility of the ball. However, Manjrekar suggested there was no issue with the visibility of the ball and he knows it because, he has played international cricket, unlike Bhogle.

“Well there is a post-mortem done on this game and there should be a post mortem on this game. Visibility of that ball will be a big factor against the big white sight-screen,” Bhogle said.

“Don’t think so. Because when you see the slip catchers the way they have taken catches, I don’t think visibility is an issue at all. The texture of the ball is the issue,” responded Manjrekar, who has played 37 Tests for India between 1987 and 1996.

In reply, Bhogle said: “We just need to ask the players what they think.”

This is when Manjrekar seemingly lost his patience and hit back at Bhogle by saying: “You need to ask, for those who have played cricket, it’s evident it can be seen well.”

However, Bhogle was adamant in his argument and countered Manjrekar, saying, “The only reason you need to ask is, having played cricket should never be a limitation or a ceiling to learning. We would never have had T20 cricket otherwise.”

Dig at Sanjay Manjrekar?

Hours after the spat with Manjrekar, Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to post an interesting tweet. The ace commentator interestingly pointed out how he has ‘a new patience bill’ which helps him stay calm under serious provocation. He, however, concluded the tweet by criticising Uber for the service. Unsurprisingly, many of his followers thought that the tweet was for Manjrekar and their doubts only increased when Bhogle went on to delete the tweet.

Here is a picture of that tweet from Harsha Bhogle:

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
