It has been a sensational year for Pakistan speedster Hasan Ali who has made giant stride especially in the limited-overs format and has gone on to become the No. 1 bowler in ODI cricket.
His popularity has been on the upward rise ever since his exceptional performance in the Champions Trophy which helped the Men in Green to clinch their maiden Champions Trophy title. Following several signings one after the other, Hasan has been roped in by Hong Kong Island United (HKI United) to play their domestic T20 tournament next year.
The franchise was overjoyed after naming Hasan in their squad. Taking to their twitter handle the franchise wrote,
“We are proud to announce that the world’s number one limited overs bowler is joining Hong Kong Island United! He is officially a part of the United Family now. Welcome to HKI United [Hasan]!”
When asked to comment on the signing of Hasan Ali, the owner of both Islamabad United and HKI United, Amna T Naqvi said,
“Hasan is an exciting prospect, but he isn’t the only big name we are bringing in this year. Hong Kong Island United has a lot more to offer, and you will find out soon why I say that.”
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Ali Naqvi, Amna’s husband said,
“Our aim is to keep bringing in names that can help local talent develop. Last year we went for experience, this year we have gone for the youthful exuberance of Hasan. He can bring a new flavor to Hong Kong.”
Meanwhile, Hasan Ali is currently busy in UAE as a part of the Punjabi Legends franchise in the inaugural edition of Global T10 League.
Hasan made a huge name for himself with his consistent performances since the Champions Trophy. Barring an off day against India on the opening day of the tournament, he bowled in right areas and ended up winning the Player of the Tournament award, and was instrumental in leading Pakistan to a tournament victory for the first time in their cricket history.
