Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has condemned the recent abuse directed at MS Dhoni and his family including his five-year old daughter Ziva. The trolls abused the legendary cricketer and his family after Chennai Super Kings’ loss to Kolkata Knight Riders last week.

CSK were in a comfortable position during the chase but eventually lost the game by ten runs. Soon after the game ended, MS Dhoni and other CSK players were abused by trolls on social media. And some trolls even abused MS Dhoni’s daughter.

The trolls gave threats of rape and physical violence to the little girl while venting their frustration over her father’s indifferent display on the field. The threats allegedly appeared on MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi’s Instagram accounts.

Shahid Afridi’s reaction:

The entire cricketing fraternity has condemned the recent incident. Apart from the fans, several prominent names like Irfan Pathan also lashed out at the trolls for targeting MS Dhoni’s family. Shahid Afridi has also joined the bandwagon as he said threats directed at the wicketkeeper-batsman and his family ‘is not right and should not happen’.

The former allrounder also lauded the former India skipper, saying that MS Dhoni has taken Indian cricket to new heights and does not deserve such treatment.

“I don’t know what sort of threats were directed at MS Dhoni & his family but it’s not right & shouldn’t happen. Dhoni’s the person who has taken Indian cricket to new heights. He’s taken junior & senior players along this journey & doesn’t deserve such treatment,” Shahid Afridi said according to Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq.

Minor arrested:

Meanwhile, police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection of issuing threats to MS Dhoni’s daughter on social media. The authorities picked the boy from Mundra’s Namna Kapaya village in the Kutch region of Gujarat. The juvenile is a student of 12th standard and confessed to have issued rape threats, as per Kutch police. According to reports, he will be handed to Ranchi police.

The local police have also beefed up the security at the player’s farmhouse in Ranchi where his wife and daughter are staying.
