Herschelle Gibbs To Auction Bat Used In Record Run-Chase To Aid Fight Against Covid-19

Herschelle Gibbs, former South Africa batsman, will auction his bat used in the world record run-chase against Australia. 14 years ago, Herschelle Gibbs used the Gun & Moore sponsored bat, to play a whirlwind knock of 175 runs off 111 balls to help South Africa chase down the target of 435 runs with a ball to spare.

Gibbs will auction the bat to aid fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic. It was one of his most memorable knock which came in a historic match. The novel coronavirus pandemic has claimed many lives with cricketers across the globe doing their bit to support the fight.

His tweet got plenty of support from fans and cricket fraternity alike, with most acknowledging his ‘brilliant’ gesture towards the cause.

The then South Africa coach Mickey Arthur also responded by tweeting: “Good work Hersch…..that should be worth a bit!”

Earlier, James Anderson, leading wicket-taker for England in Tests, made a brilliant move to aid fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic. Anderson has been an integral part for England in Tests and led from the front whenever his team need to fightback against an opposition. Now, James Anderson has joined a pack of his fellow players who are doing to their bit to support fight against the pandemic.
