In a piece of breaking news, Herschelle Gibbs has resigned from the post of the head coach of the Colombo Kings ahead of an important semi-final clash with Galle Gladiators on Sunday. Gibbs cited personal reasons and left for South Africa. He revealed the actual reason on Twitter for his sudden resignation.

Herschelle Gibbs’ mother has contracted with covid-19

Angelo Mathews said the owners informed the players about Gibbs’ decision after he had left for South Africa due to personal reasons. While there were plenty of speculations around Gibbs’ sudden decision, he cleared the air on Sunday.

The former opener revealed that his mother is in hospital after testing positive for the covid-19 virus. Also, his brother and sister are recovering from the same disease.

“Mom in hospital covid reasons. Brother was also in hospital from covid and sister recovering from covid.. had to come back home,” tweeted Herschelle Gibbs.
