Meanwhile, the Proteas appointed India-based Amol Mazumdar as the batting consultant ahead of the series to help the visiting batters. Former South Africa cricketer Herschelle Gibbs took a sly dig at Mazumdar as the visitors stare at another defeat.

The host declared 40mins ahead of the second day’s play to give the bowlers some time to have a go against South Africa batters. Herschelle Gibbs seemed extremely irritated by the poor outing of the Proteas batsman. Thus, he targeted India-based batting consultant Amol Mazumdar. South Africa have hoped Mazumdar, who also works with Rajasthan Royals, to overcome the demons of their batters. But so far, the former cricketer has failed in his task and will require an upside change to overturn things in the coming games.

“And we heard such good reviews about the local batting consultant, wonder what his thoughts are #INDvsSA #sscricket,” Herschelle Gibbs tweeted.
