Talented India batter Prithvi Shaw posted a cryptic post on his Instagram story praying to Sai Baba after being left out of the Indian squads for the upcoming New Zealand and Bangladesh tours which will happen after the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.
The Men in Blue will take on the Kiwis in three T20Is and three ODIs. The New Zealand tour will kickstart with the T20I series, scheduled to commence on November 18. The T20Is will be played on November 18, 20, and 22, with the games scheduled in Wellington, Mount Maunganui, and Napier respectively. The ODIs will be held in Auckland, Hamilton, and Christchurch on November 25, 27, and 30 respectively.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya will captain the T20I team, while Shikhar Dhawan will lead the ODI team in New Zealand. Rishabh Pant has been named the vice-captain of the side in both formats.
Prithvi Shaw Prays To Sai Baba After Being Snubbed From Indian Team
Young Indian opener Prithvi Shaw was expected to be called up to the squad with the regular openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma rested for the T20I and ODI series on the New Zealand tour. However, the right-hander, who is the youngest Indian to score a century on his Test debut, and has done well in domestic cricket recently as well, was overlooked.
When asked about his absence, Chetan Sharma, current chairman of selectors, said: “We basically are looking at Prithvi, we’re constantly in touch with Prithvi, he has been doing well. There’s nothing wrong with him at all. The thing is – the players who are already playing and those who are performing, they have got their chances. He [Shaw] will definitely get his chance. The selectors are in constant touch with him, talking to him, he is doing well and he will get his chances very soon.”
Prithvi Shaw hasn’t posted anything in relation to the snub, but took to his Instagram account and posted a photo of Sai Baba and captioned it, “Hope you are watching everything Sai Baba.”
