All-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube have come up the ranks in quick time to shoulder responsibility in Team India. However, they have lacked consistency which at times have raised speculations over their place in the playing XI. Former South African cricketer, Lance Klusener, who was one of the best seaming all-rounders of his generations has stressed on the importance the duo need to work on to get better in the international arena.
Since impressing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, Hardik Pandya has been a regular member of the Indian team. On the other hand, Shivam Dube has also come up the ranks in the absence of Pandya and made worthy performances in the last few series. The all-rounder from Mumbai has grabbed eyeballs with his powerful hitting in the domestic competitions.

Pandya needs to increase his speed – Lance Klusener
But Lance Klusener believes there still scopes for improvement for both the all-rounder. The former Proteas cricketer feels Hardik Pandya needs to increase his pace with the ball as this would make him a match-winner. Besides, Klusener wants the management to allow him play his own game.
“I think if he can bowl a bit quicker and can add another 5-10 kmph on that bowling, that would make a difference,” Klusener said to Federal. “His batting has come on leaps and bounds, and I think he is definitely having great leadership in the Indian team. Just encourage him to have an open mind. Rather than learn from his own mistakes, have him learn from the mistakes of others. Just grab all the knowledge and use what he can use and split up what he can’t,” he added.

Speaking about Shivam Dube, Lance Klusener believes that he is still a work-in-progress. The former cricketer feels the young all-rounder needs to improve a lot as it is challenging to get a long run in the Indian team if someone is underperforming. Dube will play for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League which will help in grow in stature.
“Shivam is learning his trade; definitely showing signs of being that all-rounder. It is hard to get a long run in the Indian team if you are not performing. So, he has got a lot of work to do. He has got some great heads around him for inputs, and he is definitely someone India will be looking to. And if he can rise to that occasion and deliver with the bat and the ball, then he is definitely someone can be classified as an all-rounder,” he concluded.
