Hrishikesh Kanitkar, Tamil Nadu

Hrishikesh Kanitkar, who is entering his third year as the head coach of the Tamil Nadu squad is looking for right attitude among his players ahead of 2018/19 season of Ranji Trophy.

Meanwhile, Kanitkar is hopeful to turn the fortune of his side, who endured a poor season last year.

He is currently working to chalk down the roadmap for the upcoming domestic season. However, Kanitkar is clear on his mind regarding what he needs from his players.

We are still in the process of looking at the players and their performances. But I can assure you that more than a player’s style and statistics, what I am more interested is his attitude. If I see a player willing to fight it out in the middle and give it his all, then he will definitely be in,” Hrishikesh Kanitkar told TOI.

Speaking on last years failures, Kanitkar feels his side failed to cash in during crunch situations. But, he admitted they would not repeat the same mistakes.

Hrishikesh Kanitkar revealed players who are ready to do anything for their side would only be in the Tamil Nadu team.

We couldn’t muster enough fight to put in a simple way. I am sure that will not be the case this time around. This year I want to see only those who are hungry and prepared to do whatever it takes for the team to win,” he added.

The selectors will talk to Murali Vijay

Murali Vijay, who recently failed to find a spot for last two Test against England is a senior member of the Tamil Nadu side. Hrishikesh Kanitkar noted selectors would talk to him to assess his availability.

He is a senior member of the side and I am sure the selectors will have a chat with him before we sit down to decide on the state probables,” Kanitkar mentioned.

In conclusion, Hrishikesh Kaitkar admitted Tamil Nadu would conduct a short camp ahead of the domestic season.
