I Always Feel Proud To Be Called As Irfan Pathan's Brother - Yusuf Pathan

On Saturday, the fast bowler of the Indian National Cricket Team Irfan Pathan called curtains on his international career. A day after the announcement, Baroda all-rounder Yusuf Pathan recalled his younger brother’s historic career and credited Irfan Pathan for his fame.

Yusuf Pathan stated that Irfan Pathan was the main person behind his fame in domestic cricket and IPL. He also showered words of praise on Irfan Pathan for his incredible character on and off the field. Yusuf further went on to address the setbacks Irfan faced in his career.

The right-handed all-rounder Yusuf Pathan revealed that people used to call him as Irfan Pathan’s brother, which was a proud feeling for him. He also called Irfan as the hero for Baroda, who kept the state in the cricketing map.

“I must say that it is because of him that I too became well-known and made a name for myself. When I played domestic cricket, people knew that I was Irfan’s brother. Irfan suffered many injury setbacks, but he handled those difficult phases in his career well. More often than not he made a successful return from an injury lay-off,” he said.

“Even in my Mohallah people sometimes refer to me as Irfan’s brother. I always feel proud to be known as his brother. In a way, we put Baroda on the cricketing map again. Now people are connecting Baroda with Irfan Pathan,” Yusuf Pathan added.

The 35-year-old had played a clinical role in the final of the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup against Pakistan in 2007. He picked up three wickets and returned with the figures of 3-16 in his four overs and was named as the Player of the Match.

Irfan Pathan is one of the three bowlers to have claimed a Test hat-trick for India and the first in the world to claim it in the first over of the match. The swanky left-arm pacer featured in 29 Tests, 120 ODIs, and 24 T20Is for India, bagging 301 wickets across all formats. He also managed to score 2,821 runs studded with a single hundred and 11 half-centuries.
