Arguably, the right-handed batsman Rohit Sharma is the best opener in ODI format at the moment. The classy batsman has grown from strength to strength to become one of the stalwarts for India. Speaking of the same, Rohit Sharma credited a part of his success to his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira for keeping him away from a few controversial matters.
He said this after a lot of negative things are being written on the families of the cricketers. Earlier, in 2019, a few of the articles highlighted the extended stay of the families of cricketers during the ICC World Cup 2019. A section of people blamed the families as the distraction for the cricketers. Speaking regarding the same, Rohit Sharma said that he was hurt with such kind of statements.
I am not worried about what others think – Rohit Sharma
On a personal front, 2019 was another huge success story for Rohit Sharma, who was the highest run-getter as an opener across all formats. He ended up breaking Sanath Jayasuriya’s long-standing record. He had a great outing in the World Cup and then had a sensational debut as a Test opener.
He credited the success to his family, who always kept his distance from the negativity. ”I am a different Rohit in terms of how I think. I am in such a great space in my life because of the family that I have — my wife (Ritika) and daughter (Samaira). I am not worried about what others are talking,” Rohit told PTI in an exclusive interview.
“They (wife and daughter) fill me with love and happiness, and I try to stay within that rather than thinking about X, Y or Z making comments about me. I have actually passed that age to react to someone talking good or bad things about me. Frankly speaking, it doesn’t matter anymore.”
I stopped thinking about Test match long back:
Test format was something, which has always troubled Rohit Sharma in International Cricket. He used to get worried about his position in the Indian team; however, after his marriage, he stopped thinking about it. Rohit Sharma added that he played with a calm mind against South Africa.
“Earlier, I was thinking too much about success in Tests. I would go overboard as to why is this happening, why am I playing that shot. After each Test innings, I would go to our video analyst, sit, watch and then confuse (clutter) my brain further. That wasn’t actually the right thing that I was doing,” recalled Rohit Sharma.
“I know that I am no longer 22 or 23 years old that I will keep getting opportunities in Test matches and can take my place for granted. I know that every time I go out there, I have to put a high price tag on my wicket. I am blessed to get an opportunity that many are waiting for. So, why should I regret worry or think about so many things?” he added.

All in all, Rohit Sharma had a glittering career so far and got a lot to do for the Indian National Cricket Team. Currently, he is staying away from the 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka and spending quality time with his family.
