Former Windies captain Viv Richards recently claimed he would have loved to play under the dynamic leadership of aggressive captain like Virat Kohli.
The Indian all-format captain is known to wear his heart on his sleeves and display aggression across formats. Also, Kohli has brought tremendous success to the Indian team with his brand of cricket.
The Antiguan legend himself played in a similar fashion during an era where it was all new for batters to show aggression. Therefore, Richards was tagged as a class above the rest.

“I would say someone like Virat as I like his aggressive attitude. Would love someone who demands that sort of respect for what he does himself and what he can achieve,” Viv Richards told Sportskeeeda.
“I believe I would love to play for an individual like him. He brings passion, he wears his heart on his sleeve and I love guys like that,” continued the Windies.
On comparisons between Sachin and Virat:
Virat has been on a ton-scoring spree presently when it comes to International cricket. He is now a favourite to break Sachin Tendulkar tally of centuries in One-day International cricket.

However, Kohli is often compared to Tendulkar by the general consensus. Richards, on the other hand, does not believe in comparisons and believed that India should be proud of producing geniuses in every generation.
“I’m not the guy who goes into comparisons. What we have to do is appreciate what we have. I just think India should be quite happy that they were able to produce someone like Sachin, Sunil Gavaskar and now Virat. India should be really proud of these individuals rather than make comparisons,” Richards professed.
On MS Dhoni’s style of captaincy:
Apart from his proficiency in batting, Kohli is responsible for the seamless transition of Indian cricket, taking over from the talismanic Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Further, Viv Richards was all praises for Dhoni’s model of captaincy, citing his cool and calm composure.
Dhoni-led his CSK men to the grand finale of the Indian Premier League (IPL), yet again, with his inspirational captaincy.
“When you look at an individual as calm as maybe MS Dhoni, you know he is pretty cool, he doesn’t seem to be flushed. I think when you are a leader of men, it’s nice to have such composure. Hence, I will look up to him as a captain,” concluded Richards.
