Former West Indian fast bowler Ian Bishop has picked two batsmen from the current generation who remind him of Sachin Tendulkar. Ian Bishop is one of those bowlers, who named Sachin Tendulkar as the best batsman they have bowled to during his career. During an Instagram live session with Pommie Mbangwa, the cricketer-turned commentator weighed his opinions on plenty of topics.

Ian Bishop’s choice came as little surprise since he chose Virat Kohli and Babar Azam as the batsmen, who reminds him of Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli and Babar are undeniably two of the classiest players in the modern era and have played well across formats. Pakistan’s limited-overs skipper and the Indian captain come within the top ten rankings for all the versions due to their consistencies.
In terms of who plays well in the straight lines, Sachin Tendulkar always remains at the forefront. According to Ian Bishop, it is the reason why he labels Tendulkar as the best batsman he bowled to. As far as the present generation goes, Virat Kohli and Babar Azam occupy that position. On the other hand, Tendulkar finished his career with 100 international centuries and as the top-run getter in Tests and ODIs.
“Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, who in terms of the straight lines, you remember Sachin Tendulkar, there’s a reason why I think he was the best batsman I bowled to as he always played in the straight lines and these two guys (Kohli, Azam) present that,” the 57-year old told Mbangwa.

The Trinidadian went on to praise pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah and his ability to adapt quickly to all the formats. Bishop hailed South African speedster Kagiso Rabada as well, who he first spotted in a T20 game while bowling to Kieron Pollard. Witnessing all the talents, he feels that the world is watching the rebirth of fast-bowling revolution.
“Jasprit Bumrah is a generational talent, the ability to adapt to all the formats is brilliant. Kagiso Rabada is someone I find impressive, the first time I saw him was in a T20 match and he was bowling to Kieron Pollard. I am seeing a fast bowling renaissance right now and it excites me,” he added.
