ICC Announce Women T20I Team of the Year, Harmanpreet Kaur to Lead

The International Cricket Council has announced the Women T20I team of the year 2018. India’s T20I captain Harmanpreet Kaur is going to lead the ICC Team of the year. Meanwhile, India’s southpaw batswoman Smriti Mandhana is going to open the innings with Australia’s wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy.

Smriti Mandhana had scored 622 runs in 23 innings at an average of 28.27 with a strike rate of 130.67 in 2018. Furthermore, she scored five fifties in the calendar year. Australia’s Alyssa Healy scored 578 runs in just 16 innings at a fine average of 41.28.

It is one strong team.

New Zealand skipper Suzie Bates is the one down batswoman in the ICC’s team. The talisman batter is the leading run-getter in the year with 670 runs in 16 innings at a staggering average of 51.53. Bates had scored five fifties and one hundred in the calendar year.

India’s T20I skipper Harmanpreet Kaur will hold the captaincy reins for the ICC Team of the year in T20I form. Kaur is the second leading run-getter of the year with 663 runs in 22 innings at a fine average of 41.43. Kaur scored two fifties and one century in the year.

Natalie Sciver makes the cut into the ICC Team of the year. Sciver scored 406 runs in 15 innings at an average of 40.60. She went on to score four fifties. The best all-rounder in the game Ellyse Perry makes her place in the side. Perry has scalped 20 wickets in 17 matches. Australia’s Ashleigh Gardener takes a place into the team as she scalped 20 wickets in the year.

New Zealand bowler Leigh Kasperek is the second Kiwi player in the ICC Team. Kasperek had taken 27 wickets in 15 matches. Megan Schutt finds a place in the team after she took 28 wickets in 17 matches. Bangladesh’s Rumana Ahmed is the sole player from her country as he took 30 wickets in 24 matches. India’s spinner Poonam Yadav who is the leading wicket-getter of the year with 35 wickets in 25 matches is the third Indian player in the team.
