ICC Completes World XI Squad With Kiwi's Luke Ronchi And Mitchell McClenaghan

The world cricketing body International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday (May 6) completed the list of its World XI squad with the names of Black Caps’ player Luke Ronchi and Mitchell McClenaghan respectively.

England skipper Eoin Morgan will lead the World XI squad. Moreover, the squad is also comprised of ndian internationals in the form of Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya.

In addition, the likes of Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Shakib Al Hasan and many others are in the World XI squad, representing the Asian contingent in the side will grace the occasion.

Interestingly, there are no Australian or South African in the squad. Similarly, Afridi and Ronchi are the two internationally-retired cricketers in the squad.

The two were last seen during the recently held Pakistan Super League (PSL) season of 2018. But, captain Morgan stated his appreciations for being appointed with the captaincy of World XI.

“It’s a great honour to be leading a side which has a selection of players from a number of nations, and I can’t wait to get on to the field for what promises to be an engrossing contest,” Eoin Morgan stated in ICC’s statement.

Further, the match is scheduled to be held at the hallowed turfs of Lord’s on 31st May, a few days after the grand finale of ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

It’s a fantastic feeling that we will be all getting together for a good cause. The cricket fraternity should be very proud that the funds raised from the match will help rebuild the stadia in the Caribbean and also contribute to the growth of the game.” Morgan added.

Also, wicketkeeper-batsman of New Zealand, Ronchi too expressed his pleasure to join a team full of cricketing icons owing to a great cause.

To be playing a match which will see some of the very best in action together is a matter of great pride for me. I’m looking forward to seeing a packed house at Lord’s, supporting the relief effort, and an exciting game of cricket,” Ronchi stated.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians’ star bowler this summer, Mitchell McClenaghan, who was left unsold this year earlier, also left his opinion on the upcoming match, later this month. But, he came as a replacement.
