ICC Announces Warm-up Fixtures for the 2019 World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Thursday, announced the warm-up fixtures leading to the 2019 World Cup. The event which will begin on May 30th in England and Wales will see ten teams fighting for the coveted trophy; the finals of which is scheduled for July 14th at the Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London. Also, it is the twelfth edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup. Meanwhile, the warm-up fixtures will begin on May 24th, and each team will play two matches.
India up against New Zealand, Bangladesh
The defending champions, Australia will take on hosts England on May 25th and Sri Lanka on May 27th. India, the favourites to lift the trophy will face New Zealand on May 25th and their neighbours, Bangladesh on May 28th. Moreover, the number one ranked team, England will face Afghanistan on May 27th in their second warm-up fixture.
As far as other teams are concerned, Pakistan will face their Asian counterparts, Afghanistan and Bangladesh on May 24th and 26th, respectively. New Zealand, the dark horses in the 2019 World Cup, will take on the Windies on May 28th in their second warm-up fixture.
The one-time winner and two-time finalists, Sri Lanka, will begin their preparations against South Africa on May 24th. Proteas, the team who had struggled in their quest to lift an ICC Cricket World Cup; will take on the two-time champions, Windies on May 26th in their second warm-up fixture.
