Team India regular skipper Virat Kohli attained the highest rating points for Indian batsmen in the history of 50-overs cricket as he went past former legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli currently has 911 rating points which are the highest ever by any Indian batsmen. He is the only Indian batsmen to go past 900 rating points. In fact, it was back in the year 1998 when Sachin Tendulkar attained 887 rating points which were the highest for an Indian batsman before Kohli broke it.

There is no doubt about the fact that Virat Kohli is the finest modern-day batsman and his record speaks volume about what he has already achieved in his international career. During the Test series in England, Kohli was at his imperious best and smashed 593 runs in the five-match Test series which included a couple of centuries and three fifties. In the tour of South Africa, he also scored three ODI centuries during the five-match series.

Meanwhile, Tendulkar was at his sublime best in 1998. It was during that particular year when Tendulkar smashed a couple of consecutive centuries in Sharjah against Australia. The innings is still remembered as the Desert Storm. Tendulkar was at his absolute best in 1998 and in ODI cricket, he was simply unstoppable.

He is regarded as one of the finest batsmen of all time. On the other hand, Virat Kohli can also hope to achieve more rating points and break the world record. Coming to number three in the list, it is former skipper Sourav Ganguly who achieved 844 rating points back in 2000. Ganguly was one of the finest limited overs batsmen for India and scored more runs than Tendulkar during that period.

Rohit Sharma also achieved 844 rating points earlier this year. Rohit recently led India to the Asia Cup title and was one of the most consistent batsmen of the tournament. Last two in the list are MS Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan. Dhoni was the number one ODI batsman for a long time. He attained 836 points in 2009 while Shikhar Dhawan achieved 813 points in 2018.
