It was an incredible final game between Bangladesh and India on the other day at Potchefstroom. The players of both teams were involved in a spat after the completion of the match. Following poor conduct of players on the field, the ICC will take action accordingly after watching the video clearly.
In a match where India were the undisputed favourites, the young Bangladeshi side came out all guns blazing and took the win in a hard-fought, rain-affected match.
However, after the match, some ugly scenes were witnessed when there was a reported physical altercation between the players of the two teams.
I spoke to officials – Anil Patel
As soon as the match ended, it became tense with Bangladeshi players rushing to the ground and most of them still displaying aggressive body language.
In fact, one India player rushed to confront and pushed a Bangladeshi player who had allegedly said unacceptable things and it was coach Paras Mhambrey seen calming his boys.
The India U19 manager Anil Patel said International Cricket Council (ICC) will watch the video and decide accordingly. “After the match, I spoke to officials and match referee regarding the incident which took place (behaviour of Bangladeshi players). Now ICC will watch the video and accordingly they will decide what to do,” Patel told ANI.
“Sometimes these things happen. Players can get emotional because there is so much at stake. Whatever happened wasn’t good. I think it’s not good for cricket as well. I think in the future you got to be careful with these things,” said India coach Paras Mhambrey said of the incident.
India U-19s Captain Priyam Garg and Bangladesh Under-19s captain Akbar Ali, both, condemned the situation in the post-match press conferences.
Bangladesh, who went into the match as the underdogs, put in some exceptional performances in the field to stop India from winning a record-extending fifth U-19 World Cup title.
